A recent article from Popular Science describes research that suggests a quantum entanglement as a mechanism for bird navigation. Birds may actually “see” magnetic fields by virtue of the retinal compound cryptochrome.

If true, this would highlight the profound linkages possible between life forms and the planet itself. Indeed, another BBC item makes a connection between the first appearance of Earth’s magnetic field and the appearance of Life.

There has long been speculation that our dominant brainwave frequency’s match with the Schumann Resonance is no coincidence, and that our brains are wired to Earth’s in some deep way, and that environmental magnetic fields are critical to biological systems. The notion of Earth as Gaia, intimately inseparable from ourselves, as we resonate with the magnetic field, is a grand concept, capable of organising other concepts that promote much needed change.

What has this got to do with Extraterrestrial Intelligence? EVERYTHING! As we learn who we are, really, beyond our tiny concepts, alliances and conditioned identities, we might just get to the point of being attuned enough to ourselves and our environment that we take proper notice of the situation, and start to act like an autonomous and deeply connected Earthling. As we drop layers of conditioned identities and reactivity, emotionalism and pathological detachment, we become more subtly attuned to finer aspects of Reality, and perhaps thereby start to become truly ready for Contact.
